Slumpu Series K

Slumpu Series K (1-100) “Natural Nonsense Art” Slumpu believes in the notion of this quote by Alan Watts: “People who turn with incomprehension from a non-objective painting will nevertheless gaze with delight at a landscape where the artist has represented clouds and rocks which themselves represent nothing, paying unconscious tribute to the wonder of natural nonsense. For it is not as if these forms moved us by their approximation to the intelligible shapes of the geometer or by the resemblance to other things; the clouds are no less beautiful when not reminding us of mountains and cities in the sky. The rush of waterfalls and the babbling of streams are not loved for the resemblance to speech; the irregularly scattered stars do not excite us because of the formal constellations which have been traced out between them; and it is for no symmetry or suggestion of pictures that we delight in the patterns of foam, of the veins in rock, or of the black branches of trees in wintertime.”
